Art Spiegelman’s “Maus” had a very powerful effect on me when I read it as a high school student. I’ve been partial to anthropomorphic characters since. One of the projects I’m writing is a series of stories that explores, among other things, what would happen in our society filled with anthropomorphic pop-culture if small fraction of people suddenly became human-animal hybrids unwillingly after a mysterious and deadly “plague”.
