I’ve read most of this book (I still need to get around to finishing it). It is a good, insightful look into Rome, especially how Romans saw themselves and their own history.

When it comes to historical books, I haven’t read a lot. If you like sci-fi, look up the Old Man’s War series, and the Night’s Dawn trilogy.
